MAHA Families:

It goes without saying that a lot has changed in the last week. Nearly every facet of your life has likely been impacted by the coronavirus. At MAHA, the advancement of the coronavirus has caused us to consider the well-being of those that matter most to us. The coronavirus is something the likes of which we have never seen in our lifetime and hopefully, we will not experience anything like it again. Information about the virus and recommended precautions change daily and will likely change again before we get this message out. Everyone, including MAHA, must do their part to ensure the possibility of spreading the virus is mitigated to the extent possible.

We are grateful for the contributions of our entire community this season. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our team coaches, managers, treasurers, and other volunteers that support and deliver our youth hockey program.

With our athletes and families in mind, the MAHA Board has made the decision to cancel all end of season parties in accordance with State of Alaska health mandates. We are deeply disappointed on behalf of our parents, coaches, athletes, and volunteers but with the decision being taken out of our hands, we now look ahead to making next season the best it can be.

As many of you know, MAHA has always placed a high value on taking the opportunity at the end of every season to celebrate the accomplishments of our athletes and thank those who contribute to it, so we do not take this decision lightly.

Surplus funds collected for team parties, gifts, etc. will be redistributed to the players as ice credits. If a team has gifts to distribute, those can be provided through coordinating pickups, drop offs, mail, etc. with your team’s staff.

The 12U-B and 12U Minor teams had their State tournaments cancelled by ASHA due to the coronavirus. ASHA has confirmed the tournament fees for those two teams will be refunded. The players on both of these teams will receive an ice credit equivalent to their portion of their State tournament fee.

We hope you find this information useful and we are looking forward to next season. Please stay healthy and safe.
